Miniature Comfort Room Workshop with jamuna gurung

  • This Town Is Small 115 Richmond Street Charlottetown, PE, C1A 1H7 Canada (map)

This Town Is Small (TTIS) will be hosting a workshop led by the artist Jamuna Gurung as part of the series Test Press.

In this workshop, artist Jamuna Gurung will guide participants in crafting miniature rooms inspired by their own safe comfort spaces. Over two hours, participants will design and build a small diorama using everyday materials such as wood, paper, and cardboard. Beyond their charm, miniatures have long been used for both entertainment and education, including in fields like architecture and engineering. This workshop highlights the value of upcycling, mental health, and creative autonomy.

The workshop is free of a charge. Materials will be provided. No prior experience is required.

Jams, also known as Jamuna Gurung
is a miniature artist and founder of "Eye of Johan," who transforms discarded recyclable natural materials such as cardboard, wood and paper into personalized miniatures that provide emotional comfort to individuals. Each piece is a symbol of her mission: to democratize art. Jams believes that creative pursuits are a right, not a privilege, and that a lack of resources should never be a barrier to expression. With her work, she demonstrates that anyone can turn vision into reality with planning, resilience, and a little creativity— Crafting Special emotions, one miniature at a time

Test Press is an artistic development series for This Town Is Small members. The artists who will take part in Test Press this year are  Noah Defreyne, Evan Furness, Jamuna Gurung, Ahmon Katz, Monica Lacey, Andrew Lewis, Sarah Noonan, and Damien Worth.
