We are excited to announce an Artist Talk by Sarah Noonan will take place on September 17th at 7:00 p.m. at the Hilda Woolnough Gallery at the Guild (111 Queen Street).
Sarah Noonan is a multidisciplinary artist and poet from Epekwitk/ Prince Edward Island, Canada. They received a masters degree in Contemporary Art from the Estonian Academy of Arts (2024) and a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Mount Allison University (2019). Sarah has worked as an artist in residence, exhibition intern, and programming coordinator at This Town is Small (PEI), Uus Rada Gallery (Estonia), and the Estonian Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA).
They consider our world today by investigating what connects co-existing worlds. The uncanny appearance and unrefined hand-sewing of Sarah's own clothes as material, often collides with their perspective on what is sentimental, unstable and sensitive. Through sculpture installations using experimental material processes (specifically textile and metal), they explore psychological states charged with mysticism, playfulness, and obscurity.
Test Press is an artistic development series for This Town Is Small members. The artists who will take part in Test Press this year are Noah Defreyne, Evan Furness, Jamuna Gurung, Ahmon Katz, Monica Lacey, Andrew Lewis, Sarah Noonan, and Damien Worth.
