epekwitk quill sisters artist talk

Date: Monday, June 16, 2025

Time: 6:00 - 7:00pm

Location: Hilda Woolnough Gallery at the Guild (Corner of Richmond and Queen Street in Charlottetown, PE)

Join us for an artist talk with the Epekwitk Quill Sisters: Cheryl Simon, Melissa Peter-Paul, and Kay Sark.

For the past six years, this group of skilled Mi’kmaq women from Epekwitk have worked together to revitalize the traditional artform of porcupine quillwork. The artist talk will explore their collaborative process, their unique approaches to quillwork, and their recent exhibition at the Hilda Woolnough Gallery, Elawika’tikne’l. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A.

The artist talk will be held at the Hilda Woolnough Gallery at the Guild. The venue’s front left side door on Queen Street is equipped with an accessibility button, and the staff operates a wheelchair lift for accessible movement between the lobby, theatre, and gallery. All the restrooms are gender-neutral with accessible stalls. There is a small lip near the entrance to keep in mind. For any assistance during your visit, the staff will be there to help. If you have accessibility questions, please email Alexandra at info@thistownissmall.com

This event is free and open to all ages.

Elawika'tikne'l, an exhibition by the Epekwitk Quill Sisters is on view at the Hilda Woolnough Gallery at the Guild from May 1 to June 29, 2025.
