this town is small is pleased to present beyond the regalia, a project by patricia bourque

𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘢 is a series of portraits that showcase the beauty, strength, dignity, and sacredness of women of the traditional territory of Mi’kma’ki.

Originally a Radiant Rural Halls project presented in 2024 at the Lennox Island Mi’kmaq Cultural Centre, it will be shown outdoors on Queen Street in downtown Charlottetown in partnership with the City of Charlottetown.

about the artist:

“Kwe! My name is Patricia Bourque. I’m a Canadian Mi’kmaw Photographer from Charlottetown, PEI. My work is driven by my love and passion for Mi’kmaw traditional cultural events, live music performances, community events, Island life and the beautiful landscapes and characters around me.”
