This town is small is pleased to present Chance encounters,
a solo exhibition by Konrad Wendt
To say ‘My art is concerned with the nature and function of art’ is a truism not worth wasting words on. It’s that but more. It’s magic. Not the fake kind. It’s artifice to be sure, but artifice in search of real magic.
The title, Chance Encounters, describes the creative process in my artmaking. Lately I have been taking once useful things that were noticed hanging around my studio waiting for their turn, and marrying them to art ideas. If the shoe fits the idea, and the idea fits the shoe, then I’ve nailed it.
about The Artist:
Konrad Wendt is an artist living in Prince Edward Island. He studied art at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) during much of its pioneering conceptual art moment (1967-71). His current practice reflects that early influence, enjoying the freedom of art-making in an expanded field without the gravitas.
We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, the City of Charlottetown, and Innovation PEI through the PEI Culture Action Plan.
