call for Submissions - peake street collective: Fanatics
Deadline: February 20th (apply asap as this is a first-come-first-served, non-juried opportunity)
about the call
Artists are passionate people and their work is informed by the ideas, objects and experiences they value. Have you ever wondered about the deep dives your favourite Island artist takes on snow days when the power stays on? Are you curious about the collections they maintain, their hobbies, or the bands they can’t seem to get enough of? If so, you will not want to miss the exhibition planned for This Town Is Small at the Guild this coming April.
This Town Is Small is pleased to announce another Peake Street Collective group exhibition titled Fanatics.
For this exhibition, members of the collective will create new works which explore their private passions - the things they love, their obsessions, their fascinations and secret devotions. Artists are encouraged to explore the quirky obsessions that make them who they are, whether extraordinary or mundane.
How to Apply
Artists interested in participating in this exhibition are asked to email peakestreetstudios@gmail.com as soon as possible to indicate their interest in participating. No formal application is necessary, however, space is limited, so please email stating your intent to create work for this exhibition as soon as possible and no later than midnight on Friday, February 20th. When capacity is reached we will create a wait list. For planning purposes, artists should be in a position to complete these new works prior to April 1st, 2026.
Eligibility
Fanatics is open to all artists regardless of their exhibition experience. First-time, early-emerging artists with limited public exposure are encouraged to participate. Works are generally selected on a first-come-first-serve basis but BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ artists will be prioritized. Any artists with questions should feel free to contact Peake Street at the above email.
About peake street collective:
Peake Street Collective was established in 2005 when ten Island artists began regularly exhibiting new works in a former garage space attached to a private home in Charlottetown
Since joining forces with This Town is Small in 2013, Peake Street’s membership has grown to include 208 artists who are diverse in terms of experience. While the majority are emerging and established artists, the group also recognizes the importance of fostering the growth of early-emerging artists and first-time exhibitors. To this end, Peake Street offers low barrier exhibitions and artist challenges which are not juried.
