about Test Press
Test Press is an artistic development opportunity for This Town Is Small members to use The Hilda Woolnough Gallery in the Guild for self-directed experimentation. It is a celebration of trying new things, failure, fine tuning, and test driving. Artists are invited to use this opportunity for creating new work, hosting experimental events/workshops, exploring new processes in the gallery space, and more! Bring your new ideas, your dreams, and your tests to our space to try them out!
Eligibility
This Town Is Small members in good standing are eligible to submit a proposal. If you’re not currently a member, you are welcome to become one to participate in this program! Please let us know if you have any questions.

Details
Test Press will take place throughout the months of September and October. Projects will be on view to the public during gallery hours. Participating artists will have the support of TTIS staff and access to tools and equipment (please contact us if you’d like to know what we have available) during their project period.

Hosting a screening
Hosting an artist social
Trialling a new workshop idea
Documenting artwork and trying new ways to hang work
Using the space to learn something new
Trying something weird that might fail!

Art sales or markets
Exhibitions
Projects which use toxic materials and/or are deemed unsafe by TTIS staff
Projects that don’t support your development as an artist in any way.
Artists will be paid a small honorarium for participating in the program.
Projects can take place in the following timeframes:

For projects taking place during gallery hours.
(Wednesday-Saturday 12am-5pm).

For projects taking place over an extended period of time outside of gallery hours
(Projects will be granted after-hours access to the space on a limited and case-by-case basis)

For projects which take place over a short duration of time outside of gallery hours.

Proposals must be sent through our applications form.
